Chap Chap Records, Japan, CD release of Chasing the Sun CPCD-018, capturing the trio of Sabu Toyozumi, Simon Tan, and Rick Countryman live in the Philippines in December 2018. Tracks 2 – 5 comprised the vinyl edition, CPLP-001, released in 2019. 2 additional tracks are live duo recordings from earlier that week. Toyozumi and Countryman have produced many recordings recently, but this, from Dec 12th, 2018, is the most recent in the familiar sax-bass-drums format, performing classic free jazz. Sabu proclaimed it a “great performance” and a “great evening!” His passion and creative drive can be heard and felt continuously through this music.
