Abstract Dualism is based on the chromatic movement/non-movement of the theme from The First Bird, the title track from my solo release on Chap Chap Records. The fourth track is also based on a theme from the solo session, and has a deliberate cycle that is referenced throughout, without being rigidly maintained.

Several other concepts evolved from other solo works I recorded during the lockdown, but chose to not release and to wait for more collaborative formats. Christian and Simon were equipped with fresh concepts and directions themselves. There has been lot of mutual, and individual, growth since our initial Improvising Beings release, Acceptance ~ Resistance. This recording, and the live performance at Tago Jazz the night before, marks the 10th year for this trio working together.

Guy Sitruk referred to our trio play at this time as “the sacred fire of the free…”
